What is Product Engineering?
Software developers who only write code to spec are being commoditized by AI. Product Engineers — those who understand the problem, make product decisions, and leverage AI to multiply their output — are more valuable than ever.
This is not a lateral move. It is a career upgrade. Product Engineers command higher rates, work on more interesting problems, and have direct impact on the products they build. TAG|85's Product Engineer Bootcamp is designed to close the gap between where you are and where the industry is heading.
How It Works
Guided Self-Exploration & Hands-On Projects
This is not a lecture series. The bootcamp is built on guided self-exploration — you learn by doing. Each week focuses on a core topic with curated resources, structured challenges, and hands-on projects that build on real-world scenarios. You set the pace and depth of your exploration.
Bootcamps run in cohorts — a group of engineers who go through the program together over five weeks. Your cohort is your learning community. Everyone joins a dedicated Slack group where participants, TAG|85 tutors, and experienced Product Engineers meet, discuss, and share their insights and findings throughout the program.
Weekly office hours with tutors and senior Product Engineers give you direct access to ask questions, get feedback on your projects, and deepen your understanding. The combination of self-directed learning, peer collaboration, and expert guidance is what makes this bootcamp effective.
What You Get
Guided Learning Experience
Each week comes with curated resources, structured challenges, and clear learning objectives that guide your self-exploration — so you always know where to focus and how to go deeper.
Cohort Slack Community
A dedicated Slack group for your cohort where you learn alongside peers, share discoveries, ask questions, and build relationships with fellow engineers making the same transition.
Office Hours & Tutoring
Weekly live sessions with TAG|85 tutors and experienced Product Engineers. Get direct feedback on your projects, ask questions, and deepen your understanding of each topic.
Hands-On Projects
One project per week, designed around real-world scenarios. Each project builds on the previous one, so by the end you have a portfolio of work that demonstrates your Product Engineering skills.
Final Project & Assessment
A capstone project that brings all five themes together. Complete it to demonstrate your readiness as a Product Engineer and receive a skills assessment from our senior engineers.
Path to the TAG|85 Network
Graduates who demonstrate strong Product Engineering skills become eligible to join the TAG|85 network — the largest community of Product Engineers working on exciting projects across industries.
Five Weeks, Five Themes
Week 1 — Agentic Coding
Master the practice of working with AI coding agents as part of your daily workflow. Learn how to prompt, review, and iterate with AI tools to produce production-quality software at speed. This is the foundation everything else builds on.
Week 2 — AI-Agent Orchestration
Go beyond single-agent usage. Learn to coordinate multiple specialized AI agents across the full stack — architecture, frontend, backend, testing, and deployment — the way a tech lead coordinates a team.
Week 3 — Product Thinking
Learn to think beyond tickets and specs. Understand user problems, business context, and how to make good product decisions without waiting for someone to hand you a requirements document.
Week 4 — Product Design
Bridge the gap between idea and implementation. Learn to translate product thinking into concrete designs, wireframes, and user flows that guide development — without needing a dedicated designer.
Week 5 — Client Communication
Product Engineers work directly with stakeholders. Learn to run discovery conversations, manage expectations, present technical trade-offs in business terms, and build trust with clients.
Final Project
Bring it all together. Apply everything you have learned to a comprehensive project that demonstrates your Product Engineering skills — from problem discovery through agentic implementation to stakeholder delivery.
What Comes Next
A Path Into the TAG|85 Network
This bootcamp is not just education — it is a pathway. Engineers who complete the program and demonstrate the right level of skill and product instinct become eligible to join the TAG|85 network, the largest community of Product Engineers building across industries.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How much time do I need to commit?
You get out what you put in. Weekly projects are open in scope — you can approach them with minimal input for a lighter experience, or go deeper for significantly more learning. Becoming an agentic Product Engineer is mainly about shifting your mindset and building intuition for this new way of building software. The more you train, the better you become.
For a worthwhile experience, plan for about 16 hours per week. For an excellent, immersive experience, commit full-time.
How large are the cohorts?
Each cohort is limited to 50 participants. This keeps the Slack community manageable and the experience personal — you actually get to know the people you are learning with. We can run multiple cohorts simultaneously if demand is high.
How much does the bootcamp cost?
The bootcamp costs $250. We are currently offering discounted early-bird access for $50 for individual developers.
Do you offer stipends?
Yes. We have the option to offer a limited number of stipends, allowing participants to access the bootcamp at no cost. However, stipend recipients are expected to be active members of the learning community. We reserve the right to remove participants from the cohort if they fail to actively participate.
Do you offer bootcamps for businesses?
Yes. We offer dedicated cohorts for business clients, ranging from 5 to 50 participants. Get in touch to discuss how we can tailor the bootcamp to your team.
Are there any other requirements?
To be effective in this bootcamp, you will need access to one of the Pro coding models — either OpenAI's Codex or Claude Code Pro. To use these efficiently, you will need either ChatGPT Pro or Claude Pro, which is currently priced at approximately $200 per month.
We understand this is a significant cost for many participants, which is one reason we offer stipends. But having access to these frontier models is a necessity to truly grasp the seismic shift in software engineering that enables the Product Engineer role.
